Campfire Trading Company LLC respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the Campfire Connect mobile application and associated services (collectively, the “App”).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information directly from you, automatically through your device, and from third-party services.

Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, username, password, profile photo, and preference settings.

Location Data (Precise & Approximate): To provide core mapping, navigation, trail recording, and community features, Campfire Connect collects precise GPS coordinates from your device. Depending on your device permissions, this may include background location access (e.g., tracking a route while your screen is off or while using other apps).

User Content & Activity: Photos, trail reviews, ratings, waypoint pins, saved routes, comments, and other content you voluntarily post or upload to the App.

Usage & Analytics Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including feature usage, map layer selections, session duration, app crashes, performance metrics, IP address, device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

Core Services: To operate, deliver, and maintain Campfire Connect, including displaying maps, logging trail activity, and enabling user connections.

Location-Based Features: To display your real-time position on maps, record your outdoor tracks, and suggest nearby trails or campgrounds.

App Optimization & Analytics: To monitor performance, troubleshoot technical issues, analyze usage trends, and improve user experience.

Communication: To send you updates, security alerts, administrative messages, and responses to support inquiries.

Safety & Security: To protect against fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity and enforce our User Agreement.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data under the following circumstances:

Public Community Features: Content you publish (such as public trail logs, reviews, or profile info) is visible to other Campfire Connect users. You can adjust the visibility of your tracks and profile in your account settings.

Third-Party Service Providers: We work with trusted vendors who assist in operating the App, including cloud hosting providers, mapping tile services, and analytics platforms (e.g., crash reporting and user behavioral analytics). These providers have access to data solely to perform tasks on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of CTC LLC, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of the business transaction.

4. Data Storage, Caching, & Security

Offline Caching: For offline map functionality, certain data (such as downloaded map tiles and route coordinates) is stored locally on your device.

Security Measures: We implement standard technical and organizational measures to safeguard your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no internet transmission or mobile storage system is 100% secure.

5. Your Choices & Data Rights

Location Permissions: You can enable, disable, or adjust location access at any time via your device settings. Disabling location access will limit core navigation features.

Account Settings: You can update or correct your account details and profile information directly within the App.

Data Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us at campfire.trading.co@gmail.com. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be removed from active databases, subject to legal retention obligations.

6. Children’s Privacy

Campfire Connect is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal data, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

7. WeatherCast, Campfire Youth, Campfire Academy, Community Feed, Camping Database & Map Navigation — Disclaimer of Liability

The following features of the App are provided for informational and educational purposes only, and your use of them is at your own risk.

WeatherCast: Weather information, radar imagery, and forecasts displayed in WeatherCast are provided by third-party sources (including the National Weather Service) and are provided “as is” without guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Weather conditions can change rapidly and forecasts may be inaccurate or unavailable. CTC LLC is not liable for any loss, injury, damage, or expense arising from reliance on WeatherCast data, including but not limited to decisions made about travel, camping, or outdoor activities in severe or hazardous weather. Always verify conditions through official sources and use your own judgment before entering the outdoors.

Campfire Youth: Campfire Youth provides educational content, skill tracks, challenges, and outdoor activity guidance intended for teens and families. All outdoor activities carry inherent risks, including injury, exposure to the elements, and wildlife encounters. CTC LLC does not supervise, monitor, or assume responsibility for any activity a user undertakes based on Campfire Youth content. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for determining whether an activity is appropriate for their child, for providing adequate supervision, and for ensuring proper safety equipment and preparation. CTC LLC is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in any activity described in Campfire Youth.

Campfire Academy: Campfire Academy courses, lessons, quizzes, and certificates of completion are educational materials only and do not constitute professional certification, licensing, or expert instruction in camping, off-roading, or any other activity. Completion of a course does not verify competence or qualify any person to lead, guide, or supervise others. Off-roading, vehicle use, and related activities are inherently dangerous. CTC LLC is not liable for any injury, death, property damage, vehicle damage, or other loss arising from the use or application of information presented in Campfire Academy, or from reliance on any certificate issued through the program.

Community Feed (Social Media): The Community Feed, including posts, comments, messages, direct messages, saved posts, clubs, and other user-generated content, is provided for community engagement only. CTC LLC does not pre-screen, verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy, safety, legality, or quality of any content posted by users, and does not supervise meetings, meetups, or interactions between users. You are solely responsible for the content you post, for the decisions you make based on content posted by others, and for exercising caution when interacting with other users, including when arranging in-person meetings or shared trips. CTC LLC is not liable for any injury, loss, damage, harassment, fraud, or other harm arising from user-generated content, user interactions, or reliance on information shared through the Community Feed. Content that violates our policies may be reported and removed, but CTC LLC has no obligation to monitor the feed and does not guarantee removal or response times.

Camping Database: Campground, campsite, trail, point-of-interest, and other location listings in the camping database are compiled from public sources, user submissions, and third-party data, and are provided “as is” for informational purposes only. Amenities, access conditions, availability, pricing, regulations, and seasonal status may be inaccurate, outdated, or changed without notice by land managers or third parties. CTC LLC does not own, operate, or maintain the listed locations and makes no representation or warranty regarding their condition, safety, legality, or suitability for any user, vehicle, or activity. CTC LLC is not liable for any loss, injury, damage, expense, denied access, or reservation failure arising from the use of, reliance on, or absence of information in the camping database. Always confirm conditions with the managing authority before traveling.

Map Navigation: Map displays, routing, GPS positioning, offline maps, and turn guidance are provided for general orientation and convenience only, and are not a substitute for good judgment, proper equipment, or local knowledge. Location data, routes, and map layers depend on third-party providers and satellite signals that may be unavailable, delayed, or inaccurate, particularly in remote terrain, and GPS accuracy may vary with device and weather. Navigation features are not intended for emergency use and should never be relied upon as a sole means of safety. CTC LLC is not liable for any lost or inaccurate position, wrong or impassable route, missed turn, property damage, injury, or other loss arising from the use of or reliance on map navigation features, or from the failure or unavailability of such features at any time. Always carry appropriate paper maps and emergency equipment when venturing outdoors.

General: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Campfire Trading Company LLC, its owners, members, employees, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, property damage, or loss of any kind, arising out of or relating to your use of WeatherCast, Campfire Youth, Campfire Academy, the Community Feed, the camping database, map navigation, or any other feature of the App. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with these features is to discontinue their use.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, sending an in-app notice or email notification.
